In anticipation of our impending trip to New Zealand, I’ve decided (again) to try to grow a manly beard. (i.e., I haven’t shaved for a week, and I don’t feel like shaving while on holiday). This will have several obvious results:

• I will immediately be recognized and welcomed as a South African
• I will immediately be recognized as a Linux Guru (it’s a common fact that beard = guruness, ala Richard Stallman)
• I will become a world renound sex symbol
• I will not get frostbite on my cheeks

There’s surprisingly little information out there on the ‘net on the exact mechanics of growing a beard.. I was hoping for a useful 10-step guide, but all I really found were Chuck Norris fansites, and wrestling information… we’ll just have to let nature take its course
